The Israel of God and the end of RMR

Lately I have been continuing in my study of the New Exodus theme as it relates to end-times prophecy, and it seems that everything revolves around the complicated questions regarding the identity of “Israel.”  After Jesus died and rose again, and began to gather into Himself all those who believe in Him, what became of the definition of “Israel”? Did it remain the same, or did it change to include Gentiles? If it changed then how does the new definition of “Israel” relate to the many Old Testament passages predicting a gathering of “Israel” back to Jerusalem?

Before we begin let’s take a look at three significant points that often seem to be ignored:

1. When the leaders of Israel led their nation in rejecting Jesus, they also rejected Torah, because the whole purpose of the Torah was to point to Jesus, the Messiah of Israel, in whom all of the promises to Israel were to be fulfilled. That is why Jesus declared to the scribes and Pharisees, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.”  (John 5:39-40)

2. If point number one is true, then there is no such thing as a Torah-observant non-Christian “Jew”. To be truly “Torah observant” can only mean to accept the One to whom the Torah pointed. The Scriptures and their commandments never brought eternal life; only Jesus brings eternal life. If this point is true, then the following point made by Jesus Himself makes perfect sense:

3. In the book of Revelation the only non-Christian Jews that are mentioned are referred to as the “Synagogue of Satan.” They are the Old Covenant Jews who opposed the followers of Jesus in the churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia. Twice Jesus Himself referred to these Jews as “those who say they are Jews and are not.”  To Smyrna Jesus said that their claim to be Jews was “blasphemy”, and to Philadelphia He said that their claim to be Jews was a “lie”.

These are incredible statements for Jesus to make, especially when compared to today’s popular end-times teaching that declares that the unbelieving genetic/cultural descendants of the ethnic Israelites that rejected Jesus –those who populate the modern-day state of Israel– are “the apple of God’s eye.”  This phrase is a reference to Israel that is taken from Zechariah 2:8, where the Lord declares His faithfulness to Israel and His role as protector and defender of Israel against their enemies. Here is the passage in context:

Zechariah 2:7-13
(7) Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.
(8) For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye:
(9) “Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.
(10) Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD.
(11) And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
(12) And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”
(13) Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.

First of all, note the “New Exodus” terminology in v.7 of Israel escaping Babylon and heading for Zion. Then in verse 9 note that the LORD declares that Israel will know that the LORD has acted when Israel’s former oppressors are forced to turn over their goods to Israel. In Isaiah 45:14 we find a similar situation when the enemies of Israel finally confess that Israel was truly the habitation of God:

Isaiah 45:14
(14) Thus says the LORD: “The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours; they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will plead with you, saying: ‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other, no god besides him.'”

Now let’s go back to Zechariah 2 and note verse 11, where it says that “many nations” will be joined to the Lord at this time and shall become the Lord’s people. In other words, many Gentiles will become Israelites when the Lord comes to dwell in Israel’s midst. This might not be perfectly clear if we just look at the passage above from Zechariah 2, but it does become clear when we take a closer look at several passages from Isaiah:

Isaiah 44:1-5
(1) “But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!
(2) Thus says the LORD who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
(3) For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
(4) They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams.
(5) This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.”

Who are these “willows” shooting up next to a previously dry stream bed?  They are the descendants and offspring of Israel. They are also Gentiles. Does this sound like a stretch? Perhaps it does to many of my readers, but let’s look at another passage from Isaiah:

Isaiah 43:1-7
(1) But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
(2) When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
(3) For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
(4) Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.
(5) Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.
(6) I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth,
(7) everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

These passages from Zechariah and Isaiah are all  making use of the “New Exodus” theme to describe God’s restoration of end-times Israel. In fact, the entire second half of Isaiah (chapters 40-66) is one long description of God’s restoration of Israel, as the Lord leads her out of the spiritual wilderness of Babylon and on to the holy city Jerusalem. Sprinkled throughout Isaiah are repeated predictions that this New Exodus will also include Gentiles who will join up with Israel on the journey along the “highway of holiness” (Isaiah 11:16, 19:23, 35:8, 40:3, 62:10) that leads back to Jerusalem where Jews and Gentiles will serve together in the temple as priests (Isaiah 66:20-21).

Over the past few years I have come across several studies that have shown that the book of Isaiah is a microcosm of the entire Bible. Isaiah has 66 chapters whereas the Bible has 66 books. Each chapter can be shown to pair up in some profound way with its corresponding book. It is noteworthy, therefore, that Isaiah is recognized by scholars to contain a significant break in its narrative after chapter 39, with chapter 40 marking the beginning of a new theme.  Secular scholars call Isaiah 40-66 “Second Isaiah” and allege that it had to have been written by a different author at a different time after the Babylonian captivity. This must be the case, they theorize, because the second half of Isaiah speaks of Israel “coming out of Babylon.” My view is that these scholars make this mistaken assumption because they take these descriptions of Babylon literally.  However, Isaiah is not describing the literal city of Babylon, but is only using “Babylon” as a metaphor for the power, lawlessness, and idolatry of the pagan nations as a whole!

Let’s get back on track now to where I was going… faithful Jews and Gentiles united as the people who make up the true end-times Israel.  Isaiah saw this coming, and so did Jesus and the Apostles, including Paul. In fact, the first New Testament figure to allude to this new identity for Israel was John the Baptist. He was predicted in Isaiah 40 as the “voice crying out in the wilderness.”  He was the one sent to do the preparation work on the “highway” that would lead God’s people out of their spiritual wilderness and onwards to Zion.  Isaiah 40, the first chapter of  “Second Isaiah”, corresponds to the Gospel of Matthew, the 40th book of the Bible and first book of the New Testament. John the Baptist’s message was fierce and non-compromising and here is what Matthew records him saying:

Matthew 3:1-10
(1) In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
(2) “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
(3) For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.'” [Isaiah 40:3]
(4) Now John wore a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
(5) Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him,
(6) and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
(7) But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
(8) Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
(9) And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
(10) Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire…”

What we see here is that John the Baptist is directly confronting the smug and self-righteous presumptions of the religious leaders of Israel who assumed that because they were the genetic descendants of Israel (Abraham) that their place in the coming Messianic kingdom was secure.  John the Baptist essentially tells them, “You’re genealogy means absolutely nothing to God! If you do not repent and bear the fruit of obedience you will be cut off from the family of God and replaced.  God can do anything He wants, and He could even fill your covenant position in His family with rocks!

Yes, this is true! God could raise up rocks as “children of Abraham” and inheritors of the promises initially made to the genetic descendants of Abraham! We find the same message and the same statement given by Jesus Himself in the immediate aftermath of the Sermon on the Mount.  In Matthew 8 Jesus first heals a leper thereby demonstrating a “Messianic miracle” that was intended to offer proof of His Messiahship directly to the chief priests and leaders of Israel. The second thing that Jesus does is respond to the request of a Roman centurion, who was a Gentile and a reputed enemy of Israel:

Matthew 8:5-13
(5) When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him,
(6) “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”
(7) And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
(8) But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.
(9) For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
(10) When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.
(11) I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
(12) while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
(13) And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

In this astonishing statement from Jesus we find that He is referring back to the prediction of Isaiah 43:5 of the “offspring” of Israel being gathered from “east and west” to take part in the New Exodus of God’s people coming out of spiritual bondage.  This is the first time in the New Testament where Jesus teaches that Gentiles will be adopted into God’s family, Israel, simply by having faith in Jesus as the Messiah and Redeemer of Israel. Again, we find the truth reinforced that genealogy or bloodline now means nothing to God and that faithful obedience to Jesus means everything.

Later on we read in Matthew 12 that Jesus was sent to fulfill what was written in Isaiah 42:1-4 about the “Servant of the Lord” who would be sent to lead Israel and reach out to the Gentiles:

Matthew 12:17-21
(17) This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
(18) “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
(19) He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
(20) a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory;
(21) and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

This reference to Jesus as the coming “Servant of the Lord” who was predicted by Isaiah is followed up by an exchange between Jesus and someone asking Him about His family:

Matthew 12:46-50
(46) While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.
(48) But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”
(49) And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!
(50) For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Jesus Himself once again makes it clear that He no longer recognizes genealogy as having anything to do with His true family. On the contrary, membership in the family of God is now entirely dependent on faithful obedience to the will of God! Later on in the Gospels we read that this new condition has the effect of cutting off the majority of Israel from covenant relationship with God, preserving only a remnant of genetic Israelites led by the Twelve Apostles who were given authority over the renewed “twelve tribes” in Luke 22:28-30. At the same time this cutting off of Old Covenant Israel opened the door for Gentiles to become grafted in to the twelve tribes of the New Israel which soon led to a situation where, after only a generation or so, Gentiles made up the majority of New Covenant Israel, which we know today simply as “the Church.”

This is a situation that the Apostle Paul clearly foresaw in his ministry as the “Apostle to the Gentiles.”  He recognized that Jesus had embodied, in His life, teachings, death and resurrection, Israel as a whole. After the resurrection of Jesus the only way to be recognized by God as a true member of Israel was through faith and obedience to Jesus. He was the firstborn of the New Creation who paved a way for God to adopt many more sons into His eternal family. It is a single family, made of ethnic Israelites and Gentiles that together make up the end-times “Israel of God” that stands to inherit all of the promises of the Old Testament.

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
(John 10:14-16)

Does this all sound hard to believe? It shouldn’t because it is simply the message that Jesus preached, even in His last words to the Church as recorded in Revelation. The letters to the seven churches are absolutely filled with Old Testament allusions, showing how these churches stand to inherit all that was promised to Israel if they remain firm in their faith and overcome. For instance, let’s look again at the message to the church at Philadelphia:

Revelation 3:7-13
(7) “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.
(8) “‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
(9) Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie–behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you.
(10) Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth.
(11) I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
(12) The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
(13) He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

Bible scholar G. K. Beale explains how the promises to the Philadelphia church point back to certain Old Testament prophecies regarding Israel:

“Rev. 3:9 … refers to Isaianic prophecies that the Gentiles will come and bow down before Israel and recognize Israel as God’s chosen people (Isa. 45:14, 49:23, 60:14). This Jewish hope has been turned upside down. Now it is Jewish persecutors of Christians whom God will make submit to the church. This reversal of Isaiah’s language is probably a conscious attempt to express the irony that the submission that unbelieving ethnic Jews hoped to receive from Gentiles, they themselves will be forced to render to the church. John concludes that ethnic Jews have become like unbelieving Gentiles because of their rejection of Christ and persecution of Christians. In fact, this ironic element is intensified at the end of v 9 through John’s reference to the predominantly Gentile church as being in the position of true Israel. This he accomplishes with a reverse application of Isa. 43:4, which originally spoke of God’s love and honor for Israel above the nations… John shows, rather, a consistent ironic understanding of some of the major themes in Isaiah 40-66.”

What we find in all of this is that the Church that was purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ is the true Israel, re-formed under the authority of the Twelve Apostles at the Last Supper, who are named as the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem (Rev.21:14). Furthermore, entrance into the New Jerusalem, which we know includes a multitude of Gentiles, requires that its citizens enter in through one of the twelve gates that are named after the twelve tribes of Israel. The New Jerusalem, which is the heavenly destination of the “one flock” that follows Jesus, is the eternal home of the Israel of God. This re-formed “New Israel” is the Body of Christ. Recall again that Israel was portrayed as the vineyard in many OT passages (Is. 5:1-7, 27:2-6, Ps. 80:9, Ez. 17, etc.), then Jesus taught the parable of the vineyard in Mark 12:1-12, showing that the tenants of the vineyard were being evicted and the vineyard given to someone else. To whom was it given? Well, Jesus declared that God, Himself, received responsibility over this vineyard when Jesus portrayed Himself as the true vine and His Father as the vinedresser in John 15. To be a part of the New Israel you must be attached to the Vine!

Jesus is the new embodiment of Israel, and those who are “in Him” are the true “Israel of God.” As it says in Zechariah 2:8-11, and repeated in Revelation 3:9, the LORD loves His people Israel and He will be the One to protect them and judge their enemies. The blood-bought people of Jesus, as the renewed Israel of God, are truly “the apple of His eye.” There is no other “Israel” that is recognized by God.  He cannot recognize them until they return to the “Vine” or, in Paul’s language, become re-grafted back into the olive tree (Romans 11).

Modern-day Jews and modern-day Israel still has hope. But their hope is not for an end-times regathering into the physical real estate of literal Jerusalem or a so-called “Promised Land” in the Middle East.  Isaiah said that only the “righteous” would be able to walk the path that would lead to Israel’s end-times Promised Land because it is a “highway of holiness” (Is. 35:8). In fact, that is why the early church was simply known as “The Way” throughout the book of Acts!  They viewed themselves as the restored remnant of Israel, the renewed Israel of God, being led by Jesus out of the fallen world of “Babylon,” gathering believers from all nations into their company, moving forward as pilgrims on “The Way” towards the New Jerusalem!  Indeed, the “Promised Land” of the true Israel is not earthly but heavenly! It is not a piece of real estate on the old earth, but is the entire New Creation of the New Heaven and New Earth!

With this over-arching theme in mind, it is obvious to me how stunningly shallow the popular readings of Old Testament prophecy have become. Many people have become convinced that God has a plan separate and apart from His plan for the Body of Christ, and that this plan involves the regathering of Abraham’s genetic descendants back to the Middle East.  My God, how terribly we have misunderstood what the prophets were saying! It’s not about getting “Israel” back into their “land.”  No indeed! The New Exodus is all about getting all of humanity out of the darkness and death of the current fallen world and back into the Garden of Eden where the tree of life stands (Rev.22:2)!  The original exile that God wants to remedy through Jesus is not the tragedy of Jews getting kicked out of Israel, but of Adam and Eve getting kicked out of the Garden!

I used to believe that Israel and the Middle East were the most important indicators of end-times events and that everything revolved around the Jews re-acquiring their land, taking it back from the Arabs, and expanding their nation (with God’s blessing) to the borders of Egypt and the Euphrates, but now I see how terribly misguided I was.  For this reason I have decided to withdraw my Red Moon Rising book from publication.  I have already contacted my publisher and have been assured that no new copies will ever be printed. There are so many statements that I made in that book, written over nine years ago, that I feel are just plain wrong. Removing it from publication is simply the right thing to do, even as “Red Moon” hysteria increases with the first blood moon occurring in a few days on April 14/15.

In the meantime I recognize that I haven’t figured out where all of this is going but I plan to continue to study, and eventually to write, on this major end-times theme of the New Exodus. Please keep me in your prayers!

God bless,

  1. “…Gentiles made up the majority of New Covenant Israel, which we know today simply as “the Church.”….~~~~~ I’d suggest that defining “the church” is equally as important as defining “Israel” . In other words ,the idea that “the church” contains ‘all-believers’ may well be erroneous and researching this aspect will perhaps clarify your view of ‘who-is-Israel’

  2. Peter, it takes a humble person to admit their errors, but an even humbler one to give up part of their income(!) so as not to have their errors sown further. Kudos and blessings to you.
God is the Father of all mankind, as well of the redeemer thereof. I couldn’t agree more with your statement about Adam and Eve getting kicked out of the garden…
Let us eagerly await the restitution of all things!

  3. Most unfortunate… It seems to me you’ve drank deeply from the amillennial supercessionist Kool Aide. It overlooks important passages (especially in Romans 9-11): Israel clearly means the ethnic Jews here:
Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers:4 ia partial hardening has come upon Israel, (the church really?) until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
The Deliverer will come lfrom Zion,
    he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
27 “and this will be my mcovenant with them
nwhen I take away their sins.”
As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are obeloved for the sake of their forefathers.
Unless you argue the church are enemies of the gospel then Israel here refers to Jews. This matches the prophecy in Zechariah 12 which speaks of a mass end time conversion:
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, awhen they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, bthey shall mourn for him, cas one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.
Replacement theology fails to account for Paul’s theology in Romans 9-11 and makes a mockery of OT prophecy. I’m sorry to see you so misled.

  4. Hi Peter,
Be careful where you are headed with this. God made a firm covenant with Abraham and has reserved himself a remnant comprised of 1/3 of Israel who will accept Jesus. Israel is temporarily blinded until the fullness of the Gentiles is completed. There are Messianic Jews and there are Christians. I don’t see where the Bible ever combines the two, nor have I ever seen where Israel meant any thing other than Israel.
I think RMR was inspired! You will be in my prayers and I pray that God will clarify this for you.

  5. Peter… Brother, we will be praying for you. I believe that the verses that you cite can still be interpreted similar to the message you are offering without throwing out the dispensational framework. Keep in mind there have been a lot of great scholars that have tred the same path. They are not oblivious to the false Jews in Israel that say they are Jews and are not. God must put a heart of flesh within them and He is fully capable of doing so in His time. The war of Gog and Magog will be the catalyst to change the hearts of many. Zionism is not of God but restoring Gods people to Him is His Plan through the ages. To be saved they must come to bless Him whom they have pierced. All those whom God has chosen will come to Yeshua/Jesus in God’s time. The partial hardening has come about until the fullness of the Gentiles is complete… And then all Israel, all true Israel, will be saved.

  6. Jews and grafted jews. That is why scripture says they can be re-grafted. They fell away. It means both. You are right Peter. God is concerned with those who do his will and believe in him… not deny his son while worshiping Satan… hence the synagogue reference. I have enjoyed your writings and eagerly wait your return. Thank you for giving ao much of yourself for the betterment of others. The signs show that we all will find out the truth very soon. May the Lord watch over you and your family.

  7. I am glad that you have come to this realization, and congratulate you on your spirit of humility and courage! The Lord had shown me this view many years ago, and I could not understand why some Christians still obsess with the geographical Israel, when they are NOT of God, but despisers of Our Lord. Those who still profess these erroneous doctrines, have not been blessed with discernment of the Holy Spirit, and will be among those spewed from His mouth on that day…Messianic Jews still reject Our Lord, and do not worship Him, but expect a Christ as their Messiah…which of course means that they will worship the anti Christ believing it is God…I would suggest that you read about the real meaning of “those that call themselves Jews, and are not”…I suggest you enquire on the origins of the Synagogue of Satan, the Thirteenth Tribe, the descendants of Cain, who sneaked into the Levite order and became rulers of Judah…the edomites…

In any case, it would be Hebrew Christian, and even so, as Christians we are a NEW creation…the Lord is refusing His light on some I think…the time is near where He is sifting His real children, so please beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing…Israel refers to those ten northern tribes, not the Talmudist Levites, Jews and Benjamites…I think it is Chris who is under the effect of the all powerful Kool Aid of the zionist pro Israel lobby…

  9. Peter, your courage of conviction is inspiring. Everyone who has any Bible knowledge or belief at all knows that we are living in the last of the last days. I think there is a lot of money being made from the selling of books, CD’s, and study materials from the Red Moon Rising prophecy concept. Your book was the first I had heard of the Red Moon Rising, but many popular TV preachers have jumped on the bandwagon, and sales are in the millions.

It seems like every few years there is a new “hot topic” that generates a lot of heat, but very little light. I’m thinking right now of the “Prayer of Jabez” and all the books, CD’s, and study materials that were sold with that Christian fad. Then there are the WWJD bracelets, Harold Camping, the Purpose Driven Phenomenon, Emergent church, and on, and on, and on.

In profound simplicty, the Lord Jesus said to the lawyer that was trying to trick him and catch Him in His own words:

    Matthew 22:37-40

    King James Version (KJV)

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

After salvation, the Christian life is wrapped up in verses 37 and 39 above. I got saved back in 1973. I’ve loved and read the Bible ever since. But I’ll tell you, with sum total of the knowledge of man available at our fingertips, I’ll admit that even a man with many years of Biible study has difficulty in determining whos doctrine is right and whos doctrine is wrong. The Lord told us that deception would be a hallmark of the last days. Many are teaching that there will be no rapture, that we must prove our devotion to Christ by “Enduring to the End”. I will NEVER abandon my belief in the pre-tribulation rapture no matter what man is teaching. I am thankful to God that he has given us HIS VERY WORDS, so if what man is teaching does not line up with what is in the Bible, then guess who is guilty of deception??

I’m sorry you are removing Red Moon Rising from publication Peter. It was an encouraging book, and I have referred to it many times over. I’m glad I already have an autographed copy.

  11. The time is here for the drinkers of the pagan Zionist’s kool-aid to go the way of the dodo bird. Judeo/Christianity is part of the Babylon that Yeshua’s people must leave as He commanded. Dispensationalism is false because it nullifies the teachings of Messiah.

  12. Brother Peter! How refreshing it is to read and become illuminated (not only by an inspirational analysis) of the scripture you quote, but how it helps connect the truth as to who are truly God’s people of Promise. Sadly, so many scholars and writers of ersatz eschatology (such as Zionists like Cris Putnam, Tom Horn, L.A. Marzulli) have become so indoctrinated by the teachings of C.I. Scofield, John Darby, Tim LaHaye, Hal Lindsey, et al that it’s impossible for them to clearly identify who is whom! This is why they still bow before the throne of the Israeli government and their financial masters. They fail to realize that sincere-minded scholars like yourself can make the distinction between those who teach and practice “replacement theology” and those who recognize that God has only had “one” church throughout history, which He identified through the Apostle Stephen in Acts 7:38. The same church which Paul speaks of in 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 [For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.]
Your courageous commitment to withdraw your blood moon books from the marketplace speaks volumes of your character and is a glowing testimony to those who realize that (as the day draws nigh), the true disciples of Christ will have to sacrifice much more than fame and riches to remain faithful to God and His word. Keep hanging on and move forward with the truth!

Mr. Darryl, I believe that YOU are the one who is wholly deceived…I suggest you study the BIBLE, and then the interpretations of those that know more than we do (at least more than I) and then let the HOLY SPIRIT guide you. Your Bible-stomping to “pray and fast” advice is SO typical of followers of the Laodicean Church, the Sunday-feel good, dress smart, rock ‘n roll visual aids church, the APOSTATE church…that it makes me sad to see how pervasive satan’s delusion is among the brethren…I advise you Darryl, to go on your knees and ask GOD to illuminate you, to give you SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT!

  16. You’re nuts. The Jews need to be God’s people. If God is through with the Jews, then I’m not secure in my relationship with the Lord. He had a covenant with them. If God would break that Covenant with the Jews, and I, as a Christian, have a new covenant in Him with Christ, I’m not too secure in that covenant.
Most Jews in the world, were raised to be hardcore atheists-socialists-communists and to hate the God of their fathers, Christians, the Christian Bible and Jesus Christ in particular, and to use as scripture, in place of the Torah of their fathers, the Talmud, which originates in the pagan contamination the Jews got when they were in captivity, and later, in Babylon, Jesus refers to them as:
(Rev 2:9) I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Jesus teaches us in the Gospels, and the Apostles through their letters, that the great majority of Jews are not real Jews, in the sense that they are not God’s people in spirit – in reality. They are Jews only outwardly, in the flesh, in a superficial, fake sense.
And Christians over the centuries have developed this same corrupt, anti-Christ spirit, which is so closely linked today with socialistic, left-right, liberal-conservative politics, which is now dominant in every Church denomination. This is essentially why we have lost our freedoms in America. Instead of a living Church, overcoming the corruption of the world, the Church has been overcome by the corruption.
These bad Christians today can usually be found allied with bad Jews supporting one tyrannical, political scheme after another and fighting among themselves over which one is more right – the left or the right, the liberal or the conservative. The truth is that they are both completely wrong, in any way that matters, because they are both part of the very same violent rebellion against God. They both have their backs turned to God, on the highway to hell, going away from God and Christ and leading whole nations to destruction. The only difference between the left and the right, the liberal and the conservative, is that one is on the left side of the broad road to destruction, which Jesus speaks of, and the other is on the right side of the road, moving with the children of wrath, following the leadership of children of the Devil, down and away from God, in their endless violent rebellion.
Replacement theology may not have been your intention, but it is what it is. God makes promises and is faithful to keep those promises. 2,500+ years of Jewish history should have convicted your Spirit on this one.

  17. Considering just romans 11:26-28, could we be stuck on what is today vs what will be? Most jews reject Christ today, yet whomever God has for that later time will be saved, sins removed (granted faith in Christ etc).
They are still with a promise and beloved for the sake of the fathers and whomever is there at a time later will be saved/have sins removed and grafted in.
Those verses also show that sin is present, and needs be removed. Some have the leaning that israel does no wrong or etc which is also untrue. It happens with other groups and people to, as if we expect them to act righteously, when they are of the world, the flesh. Of course they don’t do right, who and what country of the world does?
Even ephesians 2 could have a play here..one day we were dead in sins…then by grace faith in Christ was quickened to us….why is that hard to see for a group for a later time and event? Nobody is saved any other way and individually, and the individuals making up a group will be then too.
A jew is one who is one inwardly, by the Spirit (romans 2:28-29), but does that negate a promise and a future event? Today they are not in Christ, tomorrow whomever makes up israel at that time, will be granted faith. There are very many verses in OT and a few more in NT which show israel being granted faith in the latter day’s, the veil lifted away.

  18. I’m sorry to read people’s comments, kind of rude. Is it any wonder Paul described these deep things as a mystery? Something God wanted hidden later to be made known. God divorced Israel, the Jews retained their roots. We were not a people, but yet we are called sons of the living God. We are grafted back in. You can see this in many OT writings and NT as well. (story of prodigal son could be interpreted as Jews and Christians) The Bible often calls them ‘houses’, or Judah and Israel collectively. Read all of Ezekiel 37 in this context and see if it makes sense.
Eze 37:26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
Eze 37:27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Eze 37:28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

  22. For the record, I am not embracing replacement theology. The church did not replace Israel. The “church” began as the true remnant of Israel, and they remain the “Israel of God” today. They are what Israel was destined to become. This is what dispensationalism gets wrong. On the other hand, covenant theologians who advocate classic replacement theology are wrong too, because ethnic Israel definitely has a role to play in the end times, and there will come a time when their “partial hardening” will be lifted and many ethnic Jews will be grafted back into the tree, who is Christ. See my post here ( https://redmoonhawaii.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/a-new-exodus-synthesis-of-covenant-views/ ) for a glimpse of how I plan to navigate between the two extremes found in both dispensationalism and covenant theology.

  24. Brother Peter, I have to agree with others here who have expressed alarm at this sudden turn against the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I fear that this will be the end times deception that is already taking place as it is clear that all the nations will turn against physical Israel whom God will have gathered (Jeremiah 31:10 “Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock”. The nations will turn against the people of Israel (Psalm 2, 83, and Joel 3:2 “I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” and then their Messiah will come to deliver them from their enemies, including the Anti-Messiah. Be sure you are not on the wrong side!! Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus the Christ, is coming back for His people, and that means the House of Israel and the House of Judah (Jere 31:31) and their companions ( Ezek 37:19), which is the Gentiles who like Ruth, have come alongside the Messianic Jews to embrace them and their God. We owe a great debt to the Jewish people for all that they have endured to preserve the Word of God (Romans 9:4-5) You do not bear the root but the root bears you!(Romans 11:18) And Jesus will rule and reign here on this earth in the promised Land and will fulfill His promises to the children of Israel, and reign upon the throne of David (Jere 33:17) They were blinded so that you and I could see! (Romans 11:8-11, 25) Do not become proud but rather fear! (Romans 11:20-22) And pray earnestly that the children of Israel will be restored. For their restoration is resurrection! Rom 11:15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
Zec 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling
Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone
Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Jer 31:36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
Jer 31:37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
This is the time we are living in now, and Yeshua/Jesus will return HERE to the Mt of Olives as was foretold, for His people, His brethren and by the grace of God, for us whom He has chosen to be grafted in to the olive tree of Israel.

  25. Dispensational theology teaches that God’s timeclock for Israel stopped at the cross. After the cross God was only deaing with the gentiles. Even a cursory reading of the NT refutes this nonsense. We know that the gospel was preached exclusively to the Jews and believed on exclusively by Jews during the first 8-15 years of the church’s existence. If this is true, and God was only dealing with the Jews, then the 70th week of Daniel would have come to an end before the first gentiles ever came to faith in Jesus! The whole argument falls like the house of cards that it is. For their argument to be true, the gospel would have to have been preached to the gentiles only and from the very beginning on the day of Pentecost, not to Jews only and certainly not for this long a period of time. God Bless you!

For the record, Romans 11:13ff, Zechariah 12:10ff, and Isaiah 49:6 each make it clear that Israel shall be “saved”. In Chapter 2:14ff, Hosea even writes that Israel is the Bride of YHWH.

And always remember: “to the Jew first… then the Gentile.”

  28. While your RMR may not be 100% correct, and while your new views may be closer to the truth (or not), I would remind you that these studies are not salvation issues. And so as we, as readers and laypeople, negotiate between different theories and hypotheses I would commend the importance of RMR. It presents a different view of pre-trib, which is more correct IMO than the “classic pre-trib” of the last century. As such, it remains very valuable. Again, no intellectual dishonesty, as it is NOT a salvation issue, and if anything, pre-trib gets people prepared for the coming messiah better than any other rapture model, whether completely correct or not. I think you would be wise to insert a disclaimer on your website, sure, that your views are changing. But in light of all the blood moon stuff out there that is much more INcorrect than RMR I would urge you to rerelease RMR or offer a free PDF download or something. If it ends up to be MORE true than other pre trib models, and than other blood moon books, wouldn’t it be just like the enemy to not want it available just when people are actually taking an interest in blood moons??? I believe this is the case in both accounts. Pre-trib model is still a valid hypothesis/theory based on literal scripture interpretation. It has issues, as even your newest theory will, because some of this remains yet a mystery to us in our day. I think you are onto “more correct” pre-trib in RMR which makes it a very valuable read for the pre-trib crowd.

  29. Brother Goodgame, I will certainly honor your request and pray for you. We all see through a glass, darkly, and the important thing is that we keep looking to increase in godly wisdom. I agree with a lot of what you’ve written in this post, and I especially appreciated the insight into the O.T. language injected into Yeshua’s letters to the seven congregations. It wasn’t made terribly clear in your post, but from what you said in the comments, it seems that you believe Yahweh isn’t completely done with ethnic Israel. Is that true? If so, I’m on board. Because of his unconditional covenant with Abraham, Yahweh will not altogether abandon Abraham’s genetic descendants (even though they deserve it). They are presently not the people of God, and are, sadly, ruled by Satan; however, they will be grafted back into the olive tree in the end, and the restitution of the land of Israel is God setting the stage for a last-minute national repentance.

  30. Congratulations Peter for having the grace and humility to admit you made an error. I believe God reveals his truths through his Holy spirit if we genuinely seek him for it. Scripture interprets scripture throughout the bible. God’s plan of salvation for ALL people of the world, Jew and Gentile was set out from Genesis to Revelation in 2 Covenants. The first by the Law and the second by grace through Jesus’ sinless blood sacrifice which fulfilled the whole of the Law. The ‘spiritual name’ Israel was given to Jacob because he was an ‘overcomer’. God said he would forever be called Israel, BUT, from then on throughout the bible he/it continued to be written as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Why?? I believe it was because ‘Israel’ is a ‘special spiritual’ name given to ALL who are over-comers and who have believed and accepted Jacob/Israel’s promised Messiah Jesus Christ, whether they be Jew or Greek (Gentile). God always retained a believing remnant of the 12 tribes right to the end of the Old Covenant/Law Age when the Temple and Jerusalem was destroyed in 70AD, when the New Covenant was fully consummated and the Old Covenant passed away. The gospel was preached TO THE JEW FIRST, and then to the Greek, in Jesus day when ALL that had been promised to the Fathers and prophesied by the Fathers was being fulfilled and WAS fulfilled when Jesus came in Judgement of that ‘perverse generation’ using the Roman army. The believing remnant fled to Pella just as Jesus told them to in Matt 24. The rest were killed (according to Josephus 1.1 million) or taken as slaves to Rome and used as sport for the lions and gladiators in the arenas and to Egypt as slaves. ‘Josephus’ Wars of the Jews’ is amazing and was when ‘Mystery Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots’/Jerusalem was made desolate and Revelation was fulfilled. If you read Deut chapters 28,29,30,31,32 it tells of what would happen to the rebellious Israelites at the end of their special Covenant chosen-ness days. Nowhere in the bible is there a scripture that speaks of the ‘State of Israel’ (country) today as having any relevance to any future prophecy yet to be fulfilled. All prophecy was fulfilled when they returned to Caanan (the promised land they had been kicked out of), after their captivity in Babylon. There is no scripture prophecying a THIRD return of the jews to the land in our day. The blindness ‘in part’ of the unbelieving Jews spoken of in Matthew was only for the generation that Jesus was part of (the 40years from 30AD-70AD). Today the ‘jews’ have the same opportunity as other ‘blind unbeliever’ to be saved. Judaism is a religion, not a race. Jesus Kingdom is forever, world without end. Amen. See Isaiah 9: 6-7. God’s promise of a Messiah/King was UNconditional, but the Land promise was conditional upon obedience. Read Joshua 21: 43-45 when the Land promise was fulfilled, but they rebelled again so were thrown out. If the Land promise was unconditional God would have been going back on his word by kicking them out.

This Full Preterist/Fulfilled Eschatological view is opening the eyes of thousands around the world to the truth. Praise God. The bible wasn’t written TO US but FOR US. All the letters were written to the churches in Jesus, Peter, Paul’s and John’s etc day, warning of the things that were about to come upon THEM/THEN, SOON, AT HAND and WITHOUT DELAY. Jesus’ Promised parousia/presence second coming in the clouds, with the angels in judgement of Israels’s unbelievers and salvation for the believers happened exactly as he said it would in 70AD.

If you would like to know more see …..http://www.prophecyrefi.org/podcasts/unraveling-the-end-audio/ It will change your whole prospective of prophecy fulfilment and make the whole bible come alive. We are now living in the everlasting Kingdom, seated in Heavenly places with our Lord in the New Heaven and Earth (New Covenant) in the New Heavenly city of God Jerusalem in the Heavenly Mt Zion. Heb 12: 22-24. Matt 5: 18. If ‘Heaven and Earth’ (Old Covenant) have not already passed away we would still be living under the Law, but we are not because all is fulfilled.

  32. it’s a pity. side a accuses side b of blindness, and then vice versa. vitriol is thrown by both sides. simple minds play with biblical mysteries. Me? After 40 years as a Christian and a voracious reader of all things theological and prophetic, I have often found the truth is on neither side, but more often somewhere in between. I say just let the word speak for itself. When I “have” to read a ten page explanation of what a verse or word means, methinks i’m probably being misled. What does scripture teach. God made an “eternal covenant” with Israel. Abraham slept during the making of this oath, thus it is up to Jehovah to fulfill it. I am sure He knew the Jews would fail him, as he knew His church would disappoint Him when He said, “when the Son of Man returns, will He find the faith on earth”. God does all things for HIS glory, not the glory of the Jews or the Gentiles. He saves all who come. HE saves. Any one who thinks Israel will play no significant role in the end times just has to explain to me why they are still here (there) in Israel after 1900 years. Pre-trib, post-trib, mid-trib, pre-wrath, blah blah blah blah. While the world slides deeper into darkness we argue over a year or two. I tell you what. I think God revealed exactly what I should do concerning His second coming. Pray for Pre-trib, prepare for Post-trib. I think Pascal would agree. Blessings.

  33. The church is the fulfilment of Israel. The name Israel is not a country nor a plot of land. It was man, in l948, who named the land Israel. It was never called that in the bible. It was Canaan/Judea and its capital was Jerusalem. The word Israel means …’He who rules as
God’ in Strong’s dictionary. Jesus is the True Israel. see Hosea 11: 1 (speaking about Jacob/Israel and fulfilled in Matt 2: 13-15 ( speaking about Jesus.) The ‘spiritual name’ Israel was given to Jacob on his repentance and belief. We the church are of, and included, in the Commonwealth of Israel when we are saved in Jesus. Everyone has to be saved through Jesus including the those who presently practise Judaism. 🙂

However, I spent the over 20 years criss crossing and re-checking its contents before I felt I had Holy Spirit confirmation that I could publish them (in 2006). It takes a lot of guts to admit that we may have erred in our first effort. But God knows what He is doing with those who are committed to the truth. It’s not a case of Premillennial Dispensationalism versus Amillennialism; it’s about translating the word of God rather than interpreting it. I for one, though, just can’t buy that all the prophecies have been fulfilled. I have just become convinced that God will not be finished until Israel (not Jesus) says ” Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”. God is not finished with them yet. The Jews are the bride of Jehovah. Stubborn? Yes. Disobedient? Yes. Divorced? Not by a God who doesn’t agree with divorce. As the church is the bride of Christ, Israel is the bride of Jehovah( I speak here in contrast of OT and NT. I don’t believe in several Gods, just the triune God of Scripture). The God of Israel will magnify them because of HIS names sake, not theirs. Thank you anyway Lyn. For your kindness. And thank you Michael for the complement. Your exhortation was received with humility and great appreciation. That’s the way to build up the body of Christ!

  38. It is interesting that the New Covenant Paul refers to the covenants as still belonging to the unbelieving Jews. Roms. 9:4
From another another angle: Many of us involved in the spiritual war against principalities and powers have no doubt about the eschatological significance, indeed centrality, of Israel. The perpetual persecution of the Jews, the delegitimisation of Israel, its miraculous survival, etc together with the fact that the antichrist forces are so determined on its destruction is itself indicative of the significance of Israel – even though at present largely in unbelief. Many of us have experienced these powers quite directly and their hatred with such a small nation of unbelieving Jews gives very clear evidence that they see the centrality of Israel eschatologically. OK so this is the evidence from the enemy, evidence he is trying to disguise, but evidence none the less. The nations are indeed coming against Jerusalem just as predicted in Zechariah 12.
