Independence Day, 2012

“Come out of her, my people! Wake up, rub your eyes,
put on my heavenly eyesalve,
and declare your independence from the world!”

The Church is the Bride and Jesus is our Husband. The Apostle Paul referred to Jesus as the new Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-47), therefore His Bride is the new Eve, re-born in Christ innocent and pure. Paul referred to Jesus’ Bride as a “chaste virgin” who must continue to guard herself from the subtle temptations of the devil:

“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:2-3)

The new Eve must guard herself from the clever schemes of the devil so that she does not end up beguiled as did the old Eve. So whatever did happen to the old Eve? The Bride of Christ is symbolized as the New Jerusalem in Rev. 21:9-10, while the dark counterpart of the Bride of Christ is portrayed as the city of Babylon, the Mother of Prostitutes and Abominations. She is a great city who seduces the kings of the earth, deceives the nations of the earth, and owns the great merchants of the earth (Rev. 18:23). The legacy of disobedient Eve comes to its fruition in the great city of Babylon. Eve is the Mother of Prostitutes and Abominations. The Apostle Paul explains in 1 Timothy 2:13-14 that Eve was the Mother of original sin:

“For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

Adam sinned too, and he sinned willingly, but it began with Eve when she was tempted and ate of the forbidden fruit. The following passage that describes the judgment of the Great Whore shows how the story of the Gospel comes full circle, from the original transgression in Genesis to the culmination of wickedness and Eve’s final judgment in Revelation:

“And the fruits (opora) that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty (liparos) and goodly (lampros) are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.” (Revelation 18:14)

The word opora (Strong’s 3703) refers specifically to the ripe fruit of trees that is harvested in autumn.

The word liparos (Strong’s 3045) comes from the root word lipos, meaning “grease,” and is defined by Strong’s as “things which pertain to a sumptuous and delicate style of living.” The Lexical Concordance of the Apostolic Bible defines liparos as “greasy, fattening, sleak, lustrous.” It gives the impression of juicy, tasty and succulent.

The word lampros (Strong’s 2986) is defined by Strong’s as “shining, brilliant, splendid, magnificent.” The Lexical Concordance of the Apostolic Bible defines lampros as “shining, bright, dazzling.” It means glittering and attracting attention to the eyes.

If we compare Revelation 18:14 with the account of Eve and the forbidden fruit in the book of Genesis, we find evidence of the final judgment of Eve and of her legacy:

Eve in the book of Genesis-
3:6, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat…”

Eve in the book of Revelation-
18:14, “And the ripe fruits that your soul lusted after are gone from you; and all the things that were good for food (liparos) and attractive to the eyes (lampros) are gone from you, and you shall never find them anymore.”

Revelation tells us what finally became of Eve’s desire for something other than God. It all goes back to lust and covetousness, which is idolatry. But Eve was not alone when she disobeyed God, and someone else was there to push her in the wrong direction:

The tempter in the book of Genesis-
3:1, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

The tempters in the book of Revelation-
18:11,14-15, “And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more… And the fruits (opora) that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were liparos and lampros are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing…”

Again, we must remember the warning of Paul,

“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:2-3)

The end-times revival of the Church will not happen without a clear understanding of the book of Revelation, and such an understanding must include the Whore of Babylon. The Bride of Christ is made up of people, and so is the Whore of Babylon. When Jesus says in Rev.18:4, “Come out of her, my people,” He is telling us that even the Church can be deceived and seduced by its greatest enemy. In the Garden of Eden this enemy was the serpent, but in our day that role is played by the merchants of the earth. We must continue to seek God and pray that He will reveal the extent of this great end-times deception. As Kris Vallotton has preached, those in deception do not even know they are in deception. That’s the very nature of deception!

The Whore of Babylon is the great end-times Jezebel. She represents Eve’s rebellion continuing without repentance with a selfishness, haughtiness and pride beyond compare. That is why the Lord is raising up His Church and bringing forth the Elijah Revolution. It is more than a confrontation of sinners, and more than political organizing and intercessory prayer against abortion and gay rights. It is a holy revolution against the materialistic and market-based way of life that has conquered the world that can best be described as Mammonism, which has been led and directed by the merchants of the earth.

There are many “belief systems” competing in the world today, but there is only one “system” for doing life that has been steadily taking over the world since the Industrial Revolution, bulldozing every other system and every culture that has stood in its way. It arrives with a promise of freedom and material prosperity, but then delivers social unrest and spiritual degradation. Jesus did not come only to bring a new “belief system”; He also brought a new way of doing life! Yet we have forgotten this and we have been deceived and seduced into believing that there is only one way to do life, and Mammonism is the way of global progress. The false prophets who have convinced us are the intellectuals, philosophers and economists who have depraved minds, who we are warned about by the Apostle Peter:

“For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity–for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.” (2 Peter 2:18-20)

In Babylon’s merchant-based system all of society has been organized around the profit motive, turning everyone and everything into commodities to be bought and sold. It is a system created of the merchants, by the merchants, and for the merchants. And when this system falls, Heaven will shout Hallelujah!

It is time for the Bride of Christ to declare our independence from this system, and for us to declare our dependence upon our true Husband, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17)

Postscript: On July 4, 1954, evangelist A. A. Allen had a vision of the destruction of the Whore of Babylon while looking out over New York City from the top of the Empire State building. His personal testimony can be read at http://www.miraclevalley.net/gpage6.html.

  1. The Bride of Christ is not the whole Church, but only part of the Church. Just as Eve was taken from the body of Adam, so will the bride of Christ be taken from the Body of Christ the Church.

  3. “The World” is blending into the church and the church is blending into “The World”. The spirit of antichrist has been at work for a very long time.

  4. because we live in the world, it is always a struggle to keep the thorns (cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches) out of our lives and to keep ourselves un-spotted from the world. so while i dont think this is controversial, it sure is a struggle.
